My Approach

It takes patience and bravery to find a therapist who is right for your child or teenager, and I appreciate how important this process is. I begin with a free phone consultation to address any questions you may have, and we can determine if we feel that we would be an appropriate fit for one another. Even if we don’t end up working together, I can help assist you with finding helpful services for your child that may better suit their needs. After your phone consultation, we will have an initial intake session with parents only. This will allow us to review procedural issues and to discuss your concerns in a private and safe environment. Additionally, we can discuss strategies to introduce your child or teenager to therapy and begin to formulate a plan to meet your child’s needs.

After the initial intake has been completed, I will begin meeting with your child. In the first few sessions I will further assess your child’s needs, build rapport with your child, and orient them to the process of therapy. It is recommended that your child attends therapy one day per week for one hour. I will provide feedback to parents along the way regarding your child’s progress, as well as strategies that can be practiced in your home setting to achieve optimal results. I love to work collaboratively with families and welcome feedback about concerns or questions you may have along the way.
