Frequently Asked Questions about Therapy for College Students and Young Adults

What can I expect from therapy?

Starting therapy can feel both exciting and a little intimidating. In our work together, you’ll have a space that’s completely your own — somewhere you can talk openly about what’s been going on, gain insight into your emotions and behaviors, and build tools to navigate life’s challenges with more confidence and self-understanding. Therapy looks different for everyone, and we’ll tailor our sessions to meet your needs and goals.

How long does therapy usually last?

There isn’t a set timeline for therapy — it depends on what you’d like to work on and how things progress. Some people come in with a specific goal and finish within a few months, while others prefer ongoing support. We’ll check in regularly about how therapy is going and decide together when you feel ready to wrap up or take a break.

How much does therapy cost?

  • 50-minute individual session with Sophie: $250

  • 50-minute individual session with Glory: $220

We also offer a limited number of reduced-fee spots for clients who may not be able to pay the full rate. If cost is a concern, feel free to ask about our sliding scale options — we’ll do our best to make therapy accessible.

Do you take insurance?

We don’t bill insurance directly, but we can provide a monthly superbill (a itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Everyone’s coverage is a little different, so it’s worth checking with your provider about your out-of-network mental health benefits.

What if my parents are helping pay for therapy?

Even if your parents are involved financially, therapy is still your space. What you share in sessions is confidential, and we’ll only discuss information outside of therapy with your permission — unless there’s a safety concern. This helps build trust so you can be honest and get the most out of the process.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes! All sessions are currently offered via secure, HIPAA-compliant video. Virtual therapy can be a great fit for college students or young adults balancing busy schedules, internships, or classes. You can join from the comfort of your own space — anywhere in California, or in another state where your therapist is licensed to practice.
